Call for Participation in the 1st Brawijaya International Conference on Sustainability, Energy, and Development (BRICSED 2027)

Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, has invited faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in the 1st Brawijaya International Conference on Sustainability, Energy, and Development (BRICSED 2027), scheduled for January 30–31, 2027, alongside an International Student Paper Competition.

According to the Public Relations Office of D-8 International University, the conference will be hosted by Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions with online participation. Under the theme "Energy, Equity, and Earth: People at the Heart of Sustainable Futures," the event aims to provide an international platform for academic exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the exploration of innovative approaches to sustainability, energy, and development.

The conference will bring together academics, researchers, students, and experts from various disciplines to share research findings, exchange perspectives, and address emerging challenges related to sustainable development and the global energy transition.

The main conference topics include achieving sustainable futures, just energy transition, the geopolitics of energy transition, green economy and green financing, climate resilience, gender-responsive climate action, people-centered development, and inclusive policy pathways toward net-zero emissions.

As part of BRICSED 2027, an International Student Paper Competition will also be organized to encourage innovative research and academic engagement among students worldwide. The competition will focus on five key areas: energy transition, green economy, sustainable development, climate adaptation and mitigation, and innovation and sustainability.

The competition is open to active undergraduate and diploma students from universities worldwide. Participants must form teams of two or three students from the same university, with each team permitted to submit one original, unpublished paper that has not been previously awarded or submitted elsewhere. All submissions and presentation materials must be prepared in formal English, and the final presentation session will be conducted entirely online.

According to the announced schedule, the deadline for paper submissions to the student competition is November 10, 2026, while the finalists will be announced on January 6, 2027. Finalists must submit their presentation slides by January 23, 2027.

All competition participants will receive certificates of participation. The top ten finalist teams will receive finalist certificates and have their essays included in a book chapter. Cash prizes and winner certificates will also be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place teams.

For the main international conference, the extended abstract submission deadline is November 14, 2026, with acceptance notifications scheduled for November 19, 2026. The conference will offer opportunities for international networking, knowledge exchange through panel discussions and workshops, and potential publication in conference proceedings and affiliated academic journals.

In addition to inviting academic participation, Universitas Brawijaya has expressed its interest in strengthening international academic partnerships, expanding research collaboration, and exploring joint publication opportunities with partner institutions.

Faculty members, researchers, and students of D-8 International University who are interested in participating in the conference or the student paper competition are encouraged to review the official event guidelines, registration procedures, and submission requirements.
