D-8 International University Launches Scientific Water Saviors Initiative in Pakistan

on 29 Oct 2025. D-8 International University (D-8IU) launched the "Scientific Water Saviors" (SWS) initiative in Pakistan. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and leading universities and research institutes such as Quaid-i-Azam University, the University of Education, the Irrigation Research Institute, Hazara University, the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, and the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

A major highlight was the announcement of a new International Scientific Council, uniting 61 experts from across D-8 nations, with strong representation from Pakistan.

During the session, D-8IU outlined the SWS initiative's mission to "Harness science for water-secure communities across D-8 nations." The strategy is built on four core pillars: Water Awareness, Skill Development, Technological Innovation, and Facilitator-Led Training. The council will work through a structured process, beginning with a detailed analysis of national water challenges to form specialized scientific clusters and drive research-based solutions.

The SWS initiative represents a powerful, collaborative effort to leverage scientific expertise for tackling critical water security issues in Pakistan and across D-8 member states.
